From IMAS-accredited mine clearance to advanced dog handling, we deliver specialist education forged in decades of military and police service.

At Lupus Canine Support Services, we believe that a certification is only as good as the training behind it. Our Training Academy is led by directors with distinguished careers in the Royal Air Force Specialist Police, UK Policing, and Military EOD operations

We do not train for the "best-case scenario." We train for reality. Whether instructing EOD teams in the disposal of battlefield ordnance or teaching security staff to identify homemade explosives, our curriculum is delivered by personnel who have operated across the UK, USA, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa

Our Training Philosophy

Realism: We utilize live venues - including stadiums, warehouses, and transit hubs - not just sterile classrooms.
Accreditation: We are an accredited provider of IMAS (International Mine Action Standards) training.
Safety: All explosive training is conducted with live materials under strict license, overseen by qualified EOD operators.

Training Programme - Courses & Details

Accreditation

Certification: All courses carry IMAS certification and the certification is valid for 1-3 years.

Basic Explosive Awareness

Description:

Introductory course covering recognition of explosive types, indicators of suspicious items, basic safety and reporting procedures.

Target audience: Frontline staff, site managers, security personnel, volunteers.
Learning outcomes: Recognise common signs of explosives/HME, understand safe actions, report through correct channels.
Suggested duration: 1 day (8 hours)
Prerequisites: None
Assessment: Practical scenarios + short written test

Record Keeping

Description:

Best practice for accurate, auditable records relating to explosive incidents, training logs, chain-of-custody and inventory.

Target audience: Admin staff, explosives handlers, supervisors.
Learning outcomes: Maintain compliant logs, document incidents, prepare records for audits/investigations.
Suggested duration: 1 day (8 hours)
Prerequisites: None
Assessment: Practical exercise producing a sample record set + checklist review.

IMAS Level 1 - Explosives

Description:

Introductory IMAS-aligned course for basic technical knowledge and safe handling awareness of explosive remnants.

Target audience: New technical staff, clearance team members, support staff.
Learning outcomes: IMAS Level 1 competencies per IMAS standards.
Suggested duration: 3–5 days (depending on practical content)
Prerequisites: Basic Explosive Awareness recommended
Assessment: Practical assessments and IMAS-standard written/observed tasks

IMAS Level 2 - Explosives

Description:

Intermediate IMAS-aligned course expanding technical skills, risk assessment and supervised clearance tasks.

Target audience: Clearance technicians, team leaders in training.
Learning outcomes: IMAS Level 2 competencies, safe supervised operational skills.
Suggested duration: 7–10 days (classroom + practical)
Prerequisites: IMAS Level 1 certification.
Assessment: Practical task evaluations and IMAS examinations.

IMAS Level 3 - Accredited Tactical Operator (ATO)

Description:

Advanced IMAS certification for independent operational capability, leadership in clearance operations and complex tasking.

Target audience: Experienced clearance technicians, team leaders, ATO candidates.
Learning outcomes: IMAS Level 3 competencies, operational planning, team leadership.
Suggested duration: 2–4 weeks (intensive classroom & field exercises)
Prerequisites: IMAS Level 2 certification; demonstrated field experience.
Assessment: Comprehensive practical assessment, scenario leadership, IMAS examination.

HME & Precursors

Description:

Focused course on Homemade Explosives (HME), common precursor chemicals, indicators and mitigation.

Target audience: EOD/IED teams, customs, police, security screeners.
Learning outcomes: Identify HME indicators, understand precursor materials, safe identification and reporting.
Suggested duration: 2 days (theory + practical recognition)
Prerequisites: Basic Explosive Awareness recommended.
Assessment: Practical identification exercises + written test.

Lithium Detection by Dog

Description:

Course covering canine indicators for lithium batteries, handler-dog team operation, limitations and interpretation.

Target audience: Dog handlers, canine unit supervisors.
Learning outcomes: Understand cues dogs give for lithium detection, operational deployment, false positives/negatives.
Suggested duration: 4 weeks (theory + handler-dog practicals).
Prerequisites: Basic dog-handler accreditation recommended.
Assessment: Practical handler-dog detection trials.

Training to Detect HME - Visual & X-ray

Description:

Practical training on visual indicators of HME and reading x-ray images for suspect components and construction.

Target audience: X-ray operators, security screeners, customs officers, EOD support staff.
Learning outcomes: Identify visual and x-ray signatures of HME components and devices, escalation protocols.
Suggested duration: 2 days (classroom + x-ray lab/practice).
Prerequisites: Basic Explosive Awareness recommended.
Assessment: Practical x-ray image test and visual detection exercises.

Illegal Drug Detection - by Drugs Dog

Description:

Training focused on canine narcotics detection techniques, indicator recognition and legal handling of finds.

Target audience: Dog handlers, police/custody staff, border security.
Learning outcomes: Understand narcotics detection dog capabilities, handler responsibilities, evidence handling.
Suggested duration: 4 weeks(theory + practical).
Prerequisites: Basic canine-handling skill recommended.
Assessment: Practical handler-dog trials and scenario assessments.

Explosive Detection - by Bomb Dog

Description:

Comprehensive detection-dog training for explosive scent detection, operational deployment and maintenance of performance.

Target audience: Dog handlers, security canine units.
Learning outcomes: Train and operate explosive detection dogs, scenario deployment, record-keeping for certifications.
Suggested duration: 6 weeks(depends on baseline skills and practical workload).
Prerequisites: Accredited dog-handler basics recommended.
Assessment: Operational trials and documented proficiency checks.
